Chanderkhani Pass Trek 5th May to 11th May 2010

I’m taking a small group with me to check out the trail for summer programs in May and June. This is a “YOU can do it” trek which is has spectacular views of the Himalayas. Located at a height of 12,190 ft, Chanderkhani provides breathtaking views of some of the most beautiful snow clad mountain peaks. We walk through high altitude meadows, see rhododendrons in bloom, play in the snow, and sleep in tents.

Day 1 Delhi - Manali                             

Day 2 Manali/ Naggar (20 kms by jeep)/ Rumsu (5 kms trek through Pine and Cedar forests,apple orchards and meadows. Continue to camp ground (2378m).

Day 3  Rumsu/ Camp I (10 kms trek) Ascend to base of Chanderkhani pass (3660 m) and set up camp I at around 3400 m where you get striking views of the Deo Tibba peak and other mountains of the Spiti ranges overlooking the Malana Glen.

Day 4  Camp I/ Nag Ruhni (8 kms trek) Trek over the Chanderkhani pass (3660 m). Alpine meadows stretch ahead.  The pass is shaped like a crescent moon hence the name.  From the pass one can enjoy a magnificient view of Bara Bangahal, Pir Panjal and Parbati ranges.Trek further upto Nag Ruhni (4030 m). Overnight in tents.   

Day 5  Nag Ruhni to Malana  4hours  Malana is said to be one of the oldest democracies in the world. According to a legend the village is home to the descendants of the soldiers from Alexander's army. Camp at Malana.        

Day 6  Malana   to Manali   6hour. We first trek down to the roadhead and then, by jeep, drive to Manali  and  board bus  back to Delhi.              

Day 7 Reach Delhi 10 am
